About Unjam
A second pair of eyes on the emails that matter.
Unjam catches the emails that might carry real risk, shows you a clearer, more considered version to send, and helps you get better at it every time. It works right inside Gmail, on the handful of messages a week you’d hate to get wrong.
Where it came from
Unjam grew out of Mediator Academy, which we started in 2014 to make world-class conflict resolution education available to anyone, anywhere. The first mission was scale: taking mediation skills that had lived in specialist training rooms and building programmes that reached students and professionals through leading universities.
From there we went on to train thousands of managers and leaders to use mediation skills to defuse conflict at work. And we kept meeting the same problem. By the time a conflict reached us, it had usually hardened. The real damage was done earlier, in the small moments before anyone called it conflict: a reply fired off in frustration, a hard message avoided until it festered, a point buried in so many caveats it landed wrong.
So we went upstream, to where most workplace conflict actually starts. Unjam is thirty years of dealing with conflict, codified into a tool that reaches people at the moment it matters most: the difficult email still sitting in the drafts folder.
Our mission
Most conflict resolution happens too late, once positions have set and trust has gone. We want to move it earlier.
So we’re building tools that reach people in the moment they need them: to handle the difficult conversation, and to settle conflict between people and across an organisation before it escalates. And every time you use one, some of the skill stays with you. Not just the right words this once, but a way of handling conflict you keep for life and carry into any conflict you meet, at work or anywhere else.
Help someone handle the hard conversation well the first time, when they’re least able to on their own, and fewer of those conversations ever turn into conflict.
The people behind it
Unjam is built by the founders of Mediator Academy, who have spent their careers teaching people to resolve conflict.

Aled Davies
Co-founder
Aled is a mediator and conflict resolution trainer with three decades of experience. He co-founded Mediator Academy to make dispute resolution education available to anyone, anywhere, and has spent years teaching managers and leaders to handle conflict at work. He built Unjam to bring that practice to the moment it matters most.

Sabine Walsh
Co-founder
Sabine is a former solicitor, or a recovering one, as she puts it. She has spent almost two decades in mediation, as both a practitioner and an educator, and has built digital learning experiences of every size, from short, bite-sized courses to full Law Masters (LLM) programmes. She co-founded Mediator Academy to put that kind of training within reach of more people.
